4th of July

We had such a fun 4th of July.  In the morning we went to the Kaysville parade.  Lachlan had so much fun watching the fire trucks drive by and picking up the candy being thrown. Surprisingly, the part he seemed to remember the most was the unicyclers. He was quite fascinated by them.

Later that evening we got together with some friends for a barbeque. I made my third attempt at baking a red velvet cake since it's my favorite and I could call it a patriotic cake. I'm having a hard time getting this cake to turn out just right but it was really good if I do say so myself. We enjoyed chicken kabobs, corn-on-the-cob, and my cake. Lachlan enjoyed playing with our friend's son, Ethan.

After dinner and dessert we went to Davis High School for fireworks. We all enjoyed a big bowl of buttery stove-popped popcorn (a tradition started by  my mother-in-law). The fireworks were great although not as impressive as the Taylorsville City ones we saw earlier in the month.
