We're having a baby!

Our new addition is due April 28th.  We'll keep you updated with any more exciting news as it comes.

Picnic and museum

We decided to spend a day at the Treehouse Museum in Ogden.  For those of you who don't know, as I didn't, it's a children's museum and not a museum about tree houses. We packed lunches and had a picnic on the grounds of the Ogden Temple, which is across the street from the museum.  Lachlan loved being on the temple grounds.  He loves temples and always asks when he can go inside.
The museum ended up being a lot of fun.  There actually was a tree house with a tube slide that went through it.  Lachlan was scared to go down at first so I went with him and almost didn't make it out.  That slide was definitely made specifically for little people.  There were areas that represented different countries and there were games and activities that corresponded to that country.  Lachlan seemed to enjoy Japan the best.  He dressed up in a kimono and "made" sushi.  There were crafts to make and musical instruments to play.  It really was a fun day.

Blog Game

I saw this game on my friend Crissy's blog almost a month ago and I'm just now finally joining in.  Here's what you do:

1. Leave a comment on this blog post, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't have a blog, please still leave a comment and I'll email you my memory!

Come on.  It's fun!

Well, Crissy, here goes.

Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.

1. I won't walk between the two bumpers of parked cars.  I have a horrible fear that one of their emergency brakes will fail and my knees will be crushed.

2. I clean my house every night before going to bed.  I call it putting the house to sleep.  Everything gets put away and there can be no dishes in the sink unless the dishwasher is already running.

3. Cords to appliances and telephones cannot be tangled, twisted or knotted in my presence.  I will correct it immediately.

4. I love bacon and can eat an entire pound in a sitting if no one will stop me.

5. I can't sleep if my feet are cold so I always wear socks to bed.

6. The slats on the blinds in my home have to aim down and not up.  This makes Anthony crazy as he claims the other way is better for blocking out light but I think my way is prettier.

Reunion at Liberty Park

On Thursday I met two of my childhood friends, Jillaire and Natalie, at Liberty Park.  We figured it was a good central place to meet and our kids would enjoy play in the sprinkler playground and surrounding playgrounds.  After that we took headed over to the pools that are in the shape of the Wasatch Canyons.  The kids seemed to enjoy the whole day even though the heat outside was sweltering.  It was so nice to meet up with these girls and their families to catch up.

This is the Place Heritage Park

On Tuesday we went to This is the Place Heritage Park with my friends Amy and Ashley and their children as well as their mom Michelle and the children she nannies.  It was very hot outside and we were there for much longer than I thought we'd be, but it was still fun.  Lachlan colored and put together his own pinwheel, rode a horse, rode a "train", went to "school" in an old pioneer school house, and pet and saw all sorts of animals.  The only low point was when Lachlan managed to get seven, yes seven, splinters in one finger.  My awesome friend Amy took them out with nail clippers while I held my poor crying little guy.  Afterwards he told Amy "thanks for taking out my slivers".

Lachlan riding the "train".  It was really a series of car type things made to look like a train.  They told us to keep our "fundaments" (pioneer speak for bottoms) on the seat.

Lachlan on his first pony ride.  He liked it for a second but then he wanted to get off.
I think this train was Lach's favorite thing at the whole place.

Family Pictures

Last Monday we got our first family pictures in over 8 1/2 years taken.  My friend, Stacey Young, of Three Winks Studio took the pictures and I couldn't be happier with them.  She is so much fun and such a talented photographer.  She posted some of her favorites online so I am going to post some of those here.  Feel free to visit her blog at http://threewinksstudio.wordpress.com.  You won't be disappointed.

Church History Museum

We went to the church history museum to see the "I am a child of God" exhibit.  It's a hands-on exhibit that allows the children to color, build temples out of blocks, put stained-glass windows together, and dress up like Mary, Joseph and the wise men.  They can also play with containers that resemble those which may have held the gifts of gold, myrrh, and frankincense.
